State officials in Pennsylvania gave $1 million in redevelopment funds to the Venango Park and Natural Resource Authority for creation of "The Treehouse Village" at Two-Mile Run County Park.

The mid-August grant hopes to stimulate the economy by offering overnight accommodations for business and recreational use. Through this and other future funds, Pennsylvania plans to build an indoor recreation building, a paved bicycle trail around the lake, and an ice rink fueled by the park's own natural gas with fuel cell technology. This venture is part of an overall plan to provide recreational opportunities to Pennsylvania citizens, but have these facilities sustain themselves without the additional need of state funding. "This administration is dedicated to providing the capital our communities and businesses need to grow to become attractive places for Pennsylvanians to live, work and play," Community and Economic Development Secretary Dennis Yablonsky said. "This in turn will attract the private sector to our programs and our projects and continue to inject long-awaited new life into our economy."
